Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Social Media Internship
January 2025—May 2025
Having minored in Psychology as an undergraduate, I felt intensely interested in pursuing this particular internship opportunity. As a Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School intern, my primary responsibility was to assist the existing social media teams in brainstorming new ideas for educational psychiatric didactics. My other responsibilities included creating aesthetic promotional announcements and website design. My most significant project was running a test Facebook group with a small group of undergraduate psychology interns. I recommended that Facebook groups could be used as an online classroom for future psychiatry clerkships, and so we tested the platform with undergraduates before using it with psychiatry residents.
I worked with a board-certified psychiatrist twice a week, shadowing him during his undergraduate and graduate-level courses, as well as meeting with him and other interns to ask questions and discuss ideas at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Each week, I learned so many new concepts and met new people. I am very happy to have worked in a position where I could combine the knowledge I’ve learned from my communication major and my psychology minor.
